Description
This is an early to mid-19th century mill building, likely situated on an earlier site, which has been converted into a dwelling. The building appears to be of two phases of construction. It is of gabled, two-storey design, built with pinned squared rubble, and features an ashlar wheel gable. The south front has two bays, with a doorway and a pointed-headed window in the east gable. The windows are fitted with four-pane glazing. A slate-hung former kiln vent is visible, and the roof is covered with slate. A small, reused wheel now stands in place of the original mill-wheel. The mill was converted into a dwelling house around 1985-90. John R Hume documented the mill in The Industrial Archaeology of Scotland (1977), pages 105-6.
