Description
Haddo House is a mid 18th century building that appears to have two construction dates. It features a symmetrical T-plan layout with two storeys and an attic, and has a six-window front. The ground floor is finished in red sandstone with chamfered arrises, while the first floor has rounded edges (all sides are chamfered at the rear). The central doorpiece is topped with a segmental pediment that includes five incised keys and a circular moulded panel above it. A single swept dormer is located at the centre of the roof. There are inscribed skewputs, although only part of the inscription (B.M.C.) is legible.
A wooden porch, dating from around 1800, features pilastered angles and imitation rustication on the sides. At the back, there is a shallow gabled projection and a single-storey back wing.
Inside, the house retains its original woodwork, including a bar-hole on the door with a bar, and a very fine balustered scale and platt stair supported by circular fluted wooden columns.
