Description

The Dovecot at Aberdour House dates from around 1800 and is a square structure without a roof. It is built from dark whinstone rubble, featuring contrasting grey tooled granite dressings. The building has a central entrance with a small square vent above it and a continuous alighting or rat ledge that encircles the entire structure.

Inside, there are approximately 200 nesting boxes. The supporting uprights are made of brick, while the horizontal supports consist of thin pottery slabs specifically designed for this purpose.
