Description

The Police Station at 3 Kirk Brae in Fraserburgh was designed by Thomas Mackenzie of Mackenzie & Matthews and built between 1853 and 1855 in a Renaissance style. This two-storey building is constructed of ashlar freestone and features an arched ground floor. The first floor has pilastered aedicules and a curved corner adorned with Doric columns. A statue of Lord Saltoun is located on the first floor, and above it is a tall domed Corinthian rotunda. The building showcases original variations in the details of the architectural orders. Additionally, there is a four-bay matching granite extension, which serves as the police office, designed by Reid and McRobbie in 1906.
