Description

The site includes a walled garden and a bellcote, dated 1632 and relocated around 1860. The bellcote, originally part of the Old Kirk in Kemnay, is constructed from granite ashlar and sandstone, now set upon a modern base. It has roll-moulded openings and shafted angles, with semicircular pediments on each face. These pediments are decorated with baluster finials at the corners, thistle finials at the apexes, and a ball finial in the centre. A measured drawing by J Scott Lawson confirms the bellcote’s removal from the Old Kirk and subsequent relocation to the garden of Kemnay House around 1860.
