Description
The Old Toll House in Corse is an early 19th century single-storey building that originally served as a tollhouse. It has an L-shaped plan with a rear addition and features a bowed gable end facing the road, topped with a piended roof. The exterior is made of squared and tooled red granite, with some parts harled.
On the south elevation, which faces the road, there is an advanced bowed bay to the left and a bay to the right that includes an entrance door. The north elevation, which is the rear of the L-plan, has a single-storey, three-bay modern addition on the left that is designed to match the original structure.
The east side elevation displays irregular window placements in the advanced bay to the left, with the modern addition abutting on the right. The west side elevation features a large expanded window opening in the center and a rectangular window in the outer right bay. The building has astragalled replacement UPVC windows, grey slate roofing, lead flashing, and a coped stack at the ridge.
The interior was not seen during the inspection in 2002.
