Description
Craigellie is a two-storey mansion house dating from 1840-1, built by John Smith. The exterior is harled with granite margins. The south front is symmetrical with five windows, featuring a bowed central section with tripartite windows and consoled cornices on the ground floor. The overall design is asymmetrical, with a low tower situated in the angle of the east front. The roofs are low-pitched with broad eaves, though these have been cut back at the gables. A west-facing Doric columned wooden porch has been removed. The interior is simple. A contract for the construction appeared in the Aberdeen Journal of July 8, 1840.
