Description
The boathouse at Loch Of Skene, part of Dunecht House, was designed by A. Marshall Mackenzie and Son between 1922 and 1923. It features a pair of symmetrical four-storey tower houses with battlemented parapets, cape-houses, and circular stair towers. The entrance is marked by heavy gatepiers adorned with griffons and large wrought iron gates. The boathouse itself includes a portcullis gate, square angle turrets, and a striking square room that is vaulted in four compartments. The exterior is constructed of ashlar stone laid in uneven courses.
