Description
South Lodge, dating to circa 1830, is an octagonal building of single-storey height, with a modern dormer. It is characterised by a wide-eaved roof and a circular chimney. The building is constructed of red rubble with margins. The original tripartite doorpiece has been altered and now houses a window of modern design. South Lodge is associated with the ruined Rothie-Norman House, a baronial structure designed by James Matthews in 1862, which itself incorporated a late 18th century house.
