Description

The Market Cross in High Street, Stonehaven, dates back to the mid-17th century and was restored in 1887. It features a plain rectangular stone shaft topped with a late 19th-century stylised cross head. On the west face of the cross head, there is a tooled roundel displaying the Stonehaven coat-of-arms, along with the initials W, E, M, and a scroll that includes the inscription 'Veritas Vincit'. The rear of the cross head is inscribed with 'Restored by Mrs Baillie Knowles 1887'.
