Description
Pitfichie Castle is a ruin dating from around 1560 to 1570. It is a three-storey building with an attic, measuring 36 feet by 28 feet, and features a circular angle tower with a diameter of 23 feet. The castle is constructed from rubble and has a vaulted ground floor. The original door is located in the main building, while a slightly later door was transferred to the angle tower. There are remains of a semi-circular arched gate, although the voussoirs fell in 1920. The castle underwent repairs in 1736 but was unroofed by 1769, and the back wall collapsed in 1936.
