Description
Manar House is a two-storey building constructed in the early 19th century, with a date of 1811 recorded at the rear. Designed by John Smith, the building has five windows across the front and a slated roof. A prominent Doric portico provides an imposing entrance. The interior is noted for its winding stair, and there have been later additions to the building. Formerly belonging to James Gordon, of the National Society for Assistance to Destitute Objects, it was named after Mannar in Ceylon.
