Description
East Gate Lodge, part of the Manar House estate, is a circular lodge and gates dating to approximately 1800, likely based on a pattern book design. The lodge is a single-story structure with a conical slate roof, wide overhanging eaves supported by timber brackets, and a central round chimney with a double-coped top. The exterior walls are harled.
A square gatepier of ashlar stone stands alongside, featuring recessed panels on each face and a flat, pyramidal cap. The gates are composed of cast-iron columns topped with cast-iron urn finials. A latticed lower gate, constructed of both cast-iron and timber, is located to the east, and a western gate is attached to the lodge. The statutory address for the lodge, gatepier, and gates is Manar Policies, East Gate Lodge.
