Description
Monquhitter Parish Church in Cuminestown was built in 1868 by James Matthews. It has a rectangular plan and is constructed of red coursed rubble. The church features five-window flanks, with the north gable prominently projecting. This gable includes twin doorways, a large two-light window above, and a pedimented Renaissance bellcote. The church displays a distinctive round-arched style, characterized by margins that rise parabolically over the arches. All windows, except for the central north window, are two-light with simple wood tracery. Inside, there is a 17th century inscribed stone located at the vestry, and the church houses a bell dated 1689.
