Description
The stable block at Strichen Mains, associated with Strichen House, is an U-plan building constructed around 1821, designed by John Smith in a Neo-classical style. It is built from rough ashlar granite and features a central section that is raised and has a pediment above a pend arch topped with a weathercock. The front has four arches with blind lunettes on either side and pedimented gables. Modern openings have been inserted into the structure. The north-west and south-east wings are Victorian additions by John Sleigh, which replaced the original square barnyard court.
