Description

17th century, rebuilt 1970. Well set in coped granite rubble wall advanced from Strawberry Bank boundary wall, round-arched well opening to centre with mesh cover. Plaque erected by the Corporation of the City of Aberdeen 1970 to upper right reading "THE HARDGATE WELL: This spring figured in the Battle of Justice Mills fought on 13th September 1644 between the Royalist forces under the Marquis of Montrose and the citizens of Aberdeen".
