Description
9 Victoria Street in Aberdeen is a single storey and attic terrace designed by Archibald Simpson around 1843 and built after 1849. The terrace consists of five bays, featuring two 2-bay houses and one single bay house, constructed from finely finished Aberdeen bond granite rubble. Architectural details include a base course, projecting cills, long and short quoins, an eaves course, and canted piend-roofed dormers in the attic.
The west elevation is asymmetrical. Number 7 has a single bay on the right, with a window at the center of both the ground and first floors, and a dormer above in the attic. Numbers 9 and 11 are 2-bay houses; Number 9 has a panelled timber door to the right of the ground floor with a replacement fanlight, while Number 11 features a 2-pane fanlight. Both houses have a window in the flanking bay to the left and regular fenestration on the first floor, with a single dormer in the attic.
The south elevation is gabled and harled, featuring a doorway to Number 7 at the center of the ground floor, flanked by a small window on the right. There is a window at the center of the first floor and a two-storey addition on the outer right, which has a window on each floor and a gableted dormer in the attic.
The east elevation was not visible in 2000, while the north elevation is gabled. The building predominantly features 2-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with a lead ridge, and coped stone skews with blocked skewputts. The gablehead and ridge stacks are coped and have circular and octagonal cans, along with cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 2000, and there are low granite boundary walls to the west.
