Description

This is a single-span bridge dating from the time of the former Newry Canal, located beside a lock at Carnmeen, Newry, County Down. The bridge crosses a small river and carries the canal towpath. It is constructed with random-coursed, rock-faced stone walling, and a single parapet remains, featuring semi-circular cut stone coping. The bridge was initially surveyed but not listed, and a partial record was taken during a subsequent survey, as it was deemed not worthy of a full survey.
