Description
Large formal two storey hipped roof house of c.1850, now with conservatory-like entrance porch and pebble dash render to front. The property is set to the S side of the Killyleagh Road, a mile E of Crossgar. The front façade faces directly E and is symmetrical. To the centre of the ground floor is a relatively large hipped roof, conservatory-like porch (probably Edwardian), with doorway to N and steps to either side. To the left and right of the doorway are two tall sash windows with Georgian panes (6/6). To the first floor are five similar but smaller windows (the central window is slightly broader than the rest). The S façade has an enlarged modern window to the left on the first floor. To the right of this is a modern, partly glazed, door, and to the far right is a window as ground floor front. To the first floor are three evenly spaced sash windows, that to the left as first floor front, with those to the centre and right 2/2. To the N façade there are three (largely) evenly spaced first floor windows, as front. To the ground floor there is a window to the centre and one to the right, both as first floor front. To the left is a window sized recess (which is now painted to resemble a window). To the left on the ground floor of the rear façade there is a plain sheeted door with three pane semicircular fanlight. To the right is a small sash window, next a smaller single pane window, and next another plain sheeted door. To the far right the façade is abutted by a single storey shed (which links to a large outbuilding complex to the W). To the centre of the façade is a large semicircular headed stairwell window with various margin panes and coloured glass. To the left of this is a small sash window. The front and N facades are finished in pebble dash, the S and rear in rough cast. The hipped roof is covered in natural slate with four rendered chimney stacks with corbelling. Metal rw goods. To the W of the house is a large U-shaped two and single storey complex of outbuildings. These are mainly rubble built with a mixture of hipped and gabled roofs. To the E side the complex is two storey and partly finished in rough cast. The block to the E has a central vehicle entrance, which was originally elliptical but is now flat arch. Many of the openings to this block and those attached to it further to the W, have been altered to a greater or lesser degree and many now sport modern window frames
