16 Merchant's Quay, Newry, Co Down, BT35 6AH

16 Merchant's Quay was an early 19th-century warehouse, likely constructed between 1820 and 1839, and located in Newry, County Down. The building, which has since been demolished, was originally used as a grain and seed store. It was four stories high and built of granite rubble with granite dressings, topped with a slated roof. The ground floor had two windows either side of a doorway, all featuring V-channelled jambs and elliptical arches with keyblocks. Upper floors had three windows on each level, each with monolithic granite jambs and lintels. Loading doors were positioned at different levels. A replacement vehicle entrance was also present. The building’s condition was noted as poor at the time of a survey in 1969. The site remains vacant. The building lay within the Lisdrumgullion townland and was situated within a conservation area.
