7 Corcreaghan Road, Drummanmore, Kilkeel, Newry, Co Down, BT34 4LE

This was a thatched cottage, likely built between 1820 and 1839, located at 7 Corcreaghan Road, Drummanmore, Kilkeel, Co Down. It was shown on the 1834 Ordnance Survey map and described in a 1972 Historic Monuments and Buildings Branch (HMBB) survey card as a harled and whitened cottage with a thatched roof. The entrance had a sheeted door and a decorated, semi-circular timber trellis canopy. The facade featured three bays, a high wall head height, and a large wall-to-window ratio. The windows were large, 6/6 exposed box sliding sashes without horns, with the window in the left bay being smaller (4/4) and lacking a cill. There was also a smaller, cross-paned opening. The west gable was lit by attic windows, and a single, symmetrical chimney stack was present. A slate return was visible in two levels. The timber trellis canopy displayed fretted detailing similar to that on HB16/05/012. Photographic evidence from 1975 further illustrates the property’s substantial size and comfortable scale. The building was demolished, and it is now a replacement dwelling of no particular architectural or historical interest. It was delisted on March 13, 1987. The property exhibited vernacular characteristics.
