Larne Railway Station, Circular Road, Facing along Station Road, Larne, Co Antrim

Larne Railway Station, built in the mid-19th century, was originally situated on Circular Road, facing Station Road in Larne, County Antrim. The station was constructed for the Carrickfergus and Larne Railway Company, with designs attributed to its engineer, Charles Lanyon. A station is documented on an Ordnance Survey map dated 1857, though the precise date of construction remains uncertain; some sources suggest 1862. Later additions and alterations were carried out by B. D. Wise in the 1890s. The station was closed in 1974 and subsequently demolished around 1979 to facilitate a new road layout and a supermarket development, with a replacement station built closer to the town centre. The first survey in 1970 described the station as heavily overpainted, with a covered platform of interest, featuring a roof supported by timber columns and trusses finished with a sheeted fascia displaying a carved motif. The building is noted to hold industrial archaeological interest.
