Vernacular House, 252 Culmore Road, Londonderry, LBT48 8JL

This is a small, single-storey vernacular house situated on Culmore Road, near Londonderry, along the route to Donegal. Originally built between 1820 and 1839, it contributes to the character of the area. The house is stone built and has been whitewashed. It features a green-painted corrugated iron roof with a gable and a chimney on each gable. A bed outshot is located to the rear of the kitchen. The house originally formed part of a terrace of four similar vernacular buildings, indicated on an Ordnance Survey map from 1830; the other three were demolished in the first half of the 20th century. The front features a central doorway flanked by windows, although the windows have been altered to a casement style. A kitchen extension has been added to the rear. The property is currently owned by the occupier of the public house at 240 Culmore Road.
