Description
A two storey semi-detached building designed in the Arts and Crafts style c.1930, the whole being a J-shaped plan with a turret rising from the bottom corner. It sits on the south side of Crocknamac Road overlooking the green towards Portrush town centre. Hipped roof of natural Northumberland slate with terracotta ridge tiles; two gables one with timber bargeboards; eaves have exposed rafters; red brick chimneys with stepped tops and concrete copings; lead sheet to round bay. Gutters and rainwater downpipes are generally uPVC with the exception of the round bay which is cast iron. Walls are primarily of painted pebble dash render over a stretcher bond red brick plinth; gable to canted bay is half timbered, hung slate between windows. Windows are square-headed with brick and terracotta tile cills. The windows are replacement uPVC. The door is 3 panelled, the upper panel with a circular leaded light. The main north elevation is asymmetrical, 3 windows wide, with a gabled projection to the west with half-timbered gable on timber brackets either side of a full height canted bay window. To the east is a gable dormer, centred below on the ground floor is a circular bay with a convex metal roof. The entrance is offset in the central section adjacent to the west return with a diminutive rectangular window to its left, a flat roofed canopy sits on a timber bracket. The east elevation is abutted by HB03/10/065A. The rear south elevation has a projecting wing to the west with a central window to each floor. The set back section was unseen. The side west elevation has four windows vertically aligned to each floor with a garage door to the south. Setting: 4 Crocknamac Road sits on the south side of Crocknamac Road which is on the edge of a residential area facing the Metropole Park and Portrush centre to the north. It is set back from the street fronted by a lawn and hedge. Abutting to the west is HB03/10/065A.
