Summer House, Roe Valley Country Park, Limavady, Co Londonderry, BT49 9EY

This is a single-story circular stone summer house situated within Roe Valley Country Park, near Limavady, County Londonderry. The structure dates from approximately 1780 to 1799 and is located on a rise overlooking the River Roe, close to a weir. It is notable for its historical significance as a remnant of the Alexander family's Deer Park estate, acquired in 1766, and their associated mill and bleach green. The summer house was originally built as a bathing and fishing facility.

The building has a conical roof covered in rubber tiles and features brick detailing around its four equally-spaced window openings. A blackened hole on the north side serves as a chimney exit. A path with stone steps leads from the south-facing entrance down to the weir and sluice gate. The summer house is shown on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1831. While initially constructed in the late 18th century, the building has undergone substantial rebuilding. The location of the summer house, together with the nearby weir, contributes significantly to the picturesque setting of O’Cahan’s Rock within the country park.
