Description

A symmetrical four bay-single-storey-with-attic rubble stone and lime rendered former dwelling with projecting gabled porch, pre-dating 1833 and located to the south side of Ballynanny Road west of Loughbrickland. Rectangular plan with projecting porch to front and slated L-shaped lean-to outshot (lower) to rear. Pitched natural slate roof with blue/black angled ridge tiles, raised tiled verges and four rendered chimneystacks; two metal skylights to southeast pitch; timber bargeboards to gable of porch. Plastic rainwater goods. Walling is limewashed lime render over rubble stone. Vestigial timber sash windows throughout, mainly 6/6 with projecting stone sills. The principal elevation faces southeast and is symmetrically arranged with two windows to either side of projecting gabled porch; porch has original vertically-sheeted timber battened door in simple timber architrave. The southwest gable has 1/1 window (without glazing) to centre at attic. The northwest elevation (rear) has L-shaped lean-to outshot to centre with 2/4 window and 6/3 window to left section; projecting right section is blank. 4/4 bi-partite window to either side of lean-to, diminutive 2/2 window also at right. The northeast gable has diminutive window to attic and 6/6 window to ground floor right. Setting: Situated at the end of a laneway to the south side of Ballynanny Road; to front is a concrete yard with modern corrugated tin agricultural cattle-shed facing the house. House slightly elevated on a grassy verge, rising to steep verge at rear. Some rubble stone outbuildings to south.
