56 Newry Street, Banbridge, Co Down, BT32 3HA

This was a former three-storey commercial building situated in Banbridge town centre. It stood on Newry Street and has since been replaced by a modern building. The building likely dates to around 1830 and originally featured a slated roof and rendered walls. It had stone mullions to the upper windows, a shop and a cart entrance at ground floor level. A storey was added in the early 20th century. The building appeared on an Ordnance Survey map of 1861 in its then-current form. Records indicate that a saddler’s business, established in 1783, was located on the other side of Newry Street. The building was noted during a visit by the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society in September 1969. It is a partial survey only, and not listed for architectural or historical interest.
