60 Lurgan Road, Glenavy, Crumlin, Co Antrim, BT29 4QD

This is an early 19th century house, likely built between 1820 and 1839, of simple vernacular Georgian design. Its original appearance has been significantly altered by later, inappropriate changes.

The house is two storeys high and has three bays. It is rendered with a recent dry dash finish of white limestone chippings over what was previously a rubble blackstone wall. The roof is gabled and covered in slate, with two rustic brick chimneys spaced evenly along the ridge. Modern hardwood windows with small panes have replaced the original windows on the front elevation. The earlier windows consisted of triple-light sashes with 12 panes on the ground floor and 9 panes on the first floor. A modern entrance door and screen are also recent additions. The property is situated in a rural setting, facing the road and set back from it, with a field in front. Rubble blackstone outbuildings, of no particular architectural merit, are grouped around a yard to the rear. Modern steel gates and posts mark the main entrance from the road. The house appears on an Ordnance Survey map from 1832-3.
