Description
This is a two-storey, five-window house dating from the late 18th century, prominently situated on the High Street. The front is of dark red brick. A Tuscan doorcase features a fanlight, panelled reveals, and a pediment. The windows are sash windows with wooden linings to the reveals. There are entrance steps, area railings, and an unusual eaves cornice with balls to the soffit. The roof is slate, swept at the eaves, and the gable ends have curved parapets. A pair of contemporary red brick gatepiers, attached to the right of the front, mark the entrance to a yard. The wrought iron overthrow incorporates an acorn motif. This is a typical, high-quality late 18th-century house. The property is part of a group which includes numbers 15 to 21 (odd), the Veterinary Surgery at number 21, and number 13, which is of local interest.
