Description

Ashford Old Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating back to the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, situated on Ashford Lane in Isle Abbotts. The building is constructed from coursed and squared rubble, with some areas of cob, render, and colourwash. It has a thatched roof with coped verges and three brick ridge stacks. Originally an open hall house, a floor was subsequently added. The farmhouse is two-and-a-half stories high, with four bays, featuring casement windows with 2, 3, and 4 lights, and leaded lights. First-floor windows have thatched bonnet hoods. There are two door openings with plank doors. Inside, features of interest include a panelled ceiling, a stud and panel partition, and fireplaces. The roof structure is of cruck construction, showing some signs of smoke blackening.
