Description

The Bryan Monument is an 18th-century chest tomb located in the churchyard, 11 metres northeast of the chancel of the Church of St Mary in Charlton Mackrell. It is constructed from Ham and Keinton stone, featuring a moulded Ham stone base and Keinton stone sides. The sides are decorated with incised pilasters, with one panel at each end and two panels flanking the sides. The tomb has a moulded hipped top. While most of the inscriptions have been lost, one remains that commemorates Mary, the daughter of John and Mary Bryan the Elder, who died in 1708.
