Description

This is a cottage, now a single dwelling, dating from the 17th century with alterations and extensions in the early 19th century and a late 20th-century restoration. The exterior is roughcast over random rubble, with thatched roofs. A hipped cross wing projects to the left. Brick stacks are located at the left and right gable ends, to the right of the cross passage, and at the gable end of the right-hand addition.

The original plan likely comprised three rooms and a cross passage, facing southeast. A lower, independently roofed addition is attached to the east, with a hipped cross wing on the west. The central block has three 2-light casements on the first floor. The ground floor features three 2-light iron-leaded casements flanking a 20th-century plank door with a 20th-century leaded fanlight. A tiled, gabled 20th-century porch is located on the right outer bay. To the right of the central block, a 2-light iron-leaded casement dormer has quadrant stays; below, three 2-light casements flank a 2-light casement with a 20th-century plank door and side light in a single-storey, tiled, lean-to roofed addition. The cross wing has a hipped end, with a blocked ground-floor window lit on the right return by 3-light iron-leaded casements on both the first floor and ground floor. A 20th-century plank door is located on the inner bay, approached over a single-span, shallow arched blue lias random rubble footbridge, which has been renewed with pink cement and flat coping. The interior was not inspected. A photograph is held in the NMR.
