Description

No. 14 is a house dating from around 1820, altered in the later 19th century, built in a classical style. It is constructed of ashlar. The building is two storeys and has an attic, displaying five windows in total; the two outer windows are late 19th-century two-storey square bays flanked by panelled Ionic columns. The windows are predominantly sashes, with a pair centrally set within moulded balustraded panels. A central portico features a flat entablature supported by Ionic columns, with an enriched frieze at the corners and reeded panels to the door surround.

The interior retains good period detail, including enriched ceiling cornices with fluted fans in the corner of the hall ceiling, a segmental stair arch with enriched soffits, and shaped doors with reeded surrounds. On the first floor, there are two reeded fireplaces and two marble fireplaces. The staircase has cast-iron balusters with wrought iron ornament, and a cut string. The roof is concealed.

The coach house is contemporary with the main house and is rendered with dressed rubble. It has a hipped slate roof. It features a wide segmental opening and later double doors to the right, an arched window on the first floor to the left with a flat 'Y'-pattern mullion, a circular window to the right, and dove loft openings to the right of centre. There is a lean-to to the left with flat stone mullions in a 'Y'-pattern.
