Description
This is a cross located approximately 5 metres southeast of the porch of the Church of St Cuthbert. It features a late medieval and 19th-century design, constructed from ashlar stone. The base is a 19th-century, four-piece, hexagonal structure that supports an old monolithic octagonal plinth. The plinth has a chamfered top edge and a socket that holds a section of the old shaft, which is about 1 metre high. The shaft is square at the base and transitions to an octagonal shape above broach stops. The top half of the shaft has been renewed and is topped with a cross finial on a stepped pedestal.
