Description
The Stone House is a house built in 1844, as indicated by a datestone. It is constructed from hammer-dressed limestone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The house has a central-hallway entry and a cross wing at the rear. It is two storeys tall and has three bays, with the central bay slightly projecting forward. The entrance includes a six-panel door beneath a divided overlight, all set within a pilastered doorcase. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, framed by keyed stone surrounds. There is an ashlar eaves course and corniced end stacks. At the rear of the main house, there is a datestone inscribed with WS MDCCXLIV. The rear of the cross wing contains two inserted datestones; the upper one is inscribed B R A 1704, and the lower one is inscribed B T E 1679, featuring foliate enrichment. The building is included for its group value.
