Description

Whitby Cemetery Lodge, built in 1862, is a Gothic-style lodge likely designed by Pritchett, who also designed the chapels. The building is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and consists of two storeys. It features a steep slate roof and grouped chimneys. The left side of the entrance front projects forward and is gabled, complete with a saddlestone and kneelers. A gabled porch is attached to this projection, and to the right is a gabled semi-dormer with two or three light stone mullioned windows, which have shaped pointed heads. There is a canted stone bay on the ground floor to the left, also with similar window lights. At the rear, there is a single-storey wing with a gabled break.
