Description
The Turf Hotel is a building with origins in the 18th century, featuring later alterations. It stands two storeys high, constructed of stone with a rendered finish, topped by a steep Welsh slate roof and a parapet. The façade has three windows that are hung sashes with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two modern three-light windows that match the style of the upper windows, complete with stone mullions and a cornice. The entrance consists of a plain stone doorway with a flat hood supported by consoles and a fielded door. The right-hand section of the building is likely from the early 19th century and has a stone slate roof. This section also features three windows with hung sashes and glazing bars. The ground floor has been recently built forward in stone, with two three-light windows similar to those in the main section, and a plain door. An attractive painted sign displays the Richmond Grand Stand from the old Race Course. The Turf Hotel and the Theatre Royal are part of a group.
