Description

Grey Friars Tower is a late 15th-century tower notable for its attractive design and proportions. It features high moulded arches on each face, with a segmental-headed window above each arch that includes perpendicular tracery. This tower was intended to be part of a new building to replace the 13th-century monastery, but construction was halted due to the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The tower is part of a group that includes The Friary, Gates, Gate Piers, Walling, and No 4 (Friary Lodge).
