Description

The game larder, located approximately 50 metres south-east of Lindrick Gate, is a small square single-story building likely built in the late 18th century for William Aislabie. Constructed from limestone rubble with ashlar detailing, it features a purple slate roof and is set into the slope of the ground. The building has quoins and an entrance on the north side, which includes a plinth, a plain board door within a wooden surround, and a square window to the left. A sill band runs along the building, topped by a pyramidal roof with a wooden finial.

On the rear side, there is a shuttered opening beneath a keyed segmental arch. The left return has a square window, while the plinth and sill band extend only one third of the way across this face. The right return features a continuing sill band with a central window. All windows are fitted with mesh instead of glass to allow for ventilation. Inside, the walls are lined with hooks for hanging venison or birds, and there is a flight of stone steps leading to a well or spring at the rear.
