Description
The Church of All Saints is a parish church built in 1838, constructed from tooled, dressed sandstone with a concrete-tiled roof. It features a continuous, aisleless nave and chancel, along with a south porch. The building has a preaching box with round-arched windows, a 3-bay nave, and a one-bay chancel. The west end is diagonally buttressed, and the bay divisions are flat-buttressed. A round-arched south doorway with chamfered reveals is located in the west bay within the porch. The windows have chamfered reveals, projecting sills, and latticed glazing. The chancel windows on the north and south sides are blocked, with two windows at the east end. The steeply-pitched roof has coped gables and shaped kneelers, while the gabled west bellcote features two round-arched openings. The gabled porch has a chamfered round-headed archway, a coped front gable, and shaped kneelers. Inside, the church has a plain, plastered interior with a wall monument from 1788 to Jane Reed by Jopling of Gateshead at the west end of the nave. There are contemporary box pews flanking the central aisle, along with a similar reading desk, choir stalls, and altar rail. A late 19th-century octagonal stone font is also present, as well as repainted Pater and Decalogue boards in the chancel.
