Description
Penrose House, formerly known as Aldeburgh Arms Inn, is a house that was likely built in the early 18th century, with significant brickwork renovations in the 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, featuring pilasters and a cogged and stepped band at the first floor, as well as eaves. It has a plain clay tiled roof with chimneys at both ends and in the center. The house is two storeys high and has four small sliding sash windows on the first floor. One of these windows, located above the door, is a recent addition that replaced a patch of brickwork, indicating that there may have been an oval window of late 17th century style. Additionally, there are two large canted bays with hipped tiled roofs and leaded lights. At the rear, there are segmental arched sash windows from around 1800, which include glazing bars.
