Description
White Cottage is a house that consists of two builds, likely dating from the 17th century with earlier origins and 20th century alterations. It features a vestigial cruck frame, whitewashed limestone rubble, and a 20th century corrugated iron roof with brick stacks. The house has a direct-entry three-cell plan with an additional single-cell section to the right. It is one storey high with an attic. The main section has a board door and a two-light Yorkshire sash window to the left, while to the right there are two three-light Yorkshire sashes and one two-light Yorkshire sash. There is also an additional board door at the extreme right. The extra section has one unglazed two-light window opening. The roof is steeply pitched with two different heights and features end stacks as well as ridge stacks. Inside, there is one pair of crucks that survive at the right gable of the addition.
