Description
The Vicarage is a house built around 1860-1870, likely designed by Charles Barry Junior. It is constructed of limestone with sandstone detailing and features a roof covered in plain and fish scale tiles arranged in alternating bands, along with stone stacks. The main block of the house is two rooms deep and two rooms wide, with a large staircase hall. To the right is a contemporary service wing that includes an outshut and a coalhouse projecting at the front.
The building stands two storeys high and has a balanced asymmetrical facade. There are two gabled bays that slightly project forward on either side of an arched half-glazed door, which is sheltered by a wooden porch with a lean-to roof. To the left of the door, there are three stepped arched sash windows, and to the right, there is one two-light sash window. On the first floor, there are two two-light arched sashes and one single-light dormer. The gables feature bargeboards, and the ridges are adorned with decorative cresting. The house has tall ridge and eaves stacks. It is included for group value considerations.
