Description

The Black Swan Inn is an 18th-century building located on the north side of Baxttergate. It is three storeys high and constructed of brick, featuring a cornice and a pediment. The building has rusticated quoins and four windows that have flat stone arches with keystones, wood architraves, and double-hung sashes without glazing bars. The entrance is highlighted by Doric columns supporting an open pedimented doorcase, which includes a blocked half-round fanlight and a rectangular fanlight above a four-panel door. To the right, there is a window above a rusticated carriage arch, while to the left, a modern three-light public house window has been added.
