Description

These are a row of four houses, numbers 9 to 12, built around 1850 as part of the north side of West Square. The houses are three storeys high and have a stucco facade. A bed mould detail appears in the frieze, and there's a gutter cornice and a low gable-ended slate roof. A sill course runs along the first floor. The upper floors each feature two windows with recessed sash windows and later glazing, set within architrave surrounds. The ground floor windows are tripartite, featuring dividing pilasters and architrave surrounds. Number 11 has a later rectangular bay window. The doors are of six or four moulded panels, with rectangular fanlights above and panelled flanking strips, topped with projecting cornices supported by heavy console brackets. The houses form a group with the other listed buildings in West Square.
