Description
Westborough Methodist Church was built in 1856 and 1862, designed by architect W Baldwin Stewart. It features a large classical ashlar front with a tetrastyle Corinthian portico that has a heavy entablature and a pediment. The church is flanked by square towers that have angle Corinthian pilasters. Above the entablature, the towers include a bell stage with angle Roman ionic pilasters and a pediment over the cornice, each face having a blocking course. A broad flight of steps leads up to the portico, which has three round arched doors with moulded surrounds and vermiculated keystones. The side elevation has five bays, with the entablature topped by small stepped pinnacles aligned with the window bays.
