Description
Red Hall and Red Hall Cottage is a house that has been divided into two dwellings, with the left wing known as Red Hall Cottage. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and is constructed of dark red brick in an indeterminate bond, primarily using stretchers, with stone dressings. The wings are roughcast. The building features dark pantiled roofs with stone copings and kneelers, along with brick stacks.
The structure is two storeys tall and has five bays, with lower two-storey, two-bay wings. It has a chamfered stone plinth and alternating-block quoins. The main entrance features a door with eight fielded panels beneath a segment-headed lintel. The main house has 12-pane sash windows in wooden box frames, set under stone wedge lintels with large keystones. The wings contain one-, two-, and three-light Yorkshire sashes, some of which have been replaced. A deep moulded and dentilled wood eaves cornice adorns the main house. The rear elevation includes a stone-framed Venetian stair window, likely added later. Inside, there are some early three-panel doors.
