Description

Linton Lock is a lock built around 1767, with later repairs. It is constructed from coursed limestone, featuring lock walls made of large blocks of stone and renewed gates. On the south wall at the west end, there are Roman numerals that indicate the water level in feet. The lock was established following an Act of Parliament from 1767, which specified that it should accommodate vessels measuring 60 feet by 15 feet 4 inches, with a draft of 4 feet.
