Description

The Wellington Hotel, originally known as The Whitby Way, dates to the mid-18th century. It is a three-storey building constructed of painted brick, with horizontal bands marking the floor levels. Rusticated quoins define the corners, and a plinth runs along the base. The original south facade facing Baxtergate had three windows on each floor, featuring double-hung sashes with glazing bars. A single window on the ground floor has been blocked, and a modern window has been inserted to the left. The front facing Wellington Road was remodelled at some point.
