Description

The Deer Shelter, located in Stanwick Park, is a structure likely built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with some brick dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building is a single-storey, six-sided cell. Each side has a segmental-arched opening, detailed in brick, with one opening completely blocked and four partly blocked. The roof is pyramidal in shape. Inside, the roof construction consists of trusses derived from a king post. This building is incorrectly marked as an icehouse on the 6-inch Ordnance Survey Map.
